A life-size sex doll requires regular maintenance, especially when used for penetration. Cleaning depends on the material and the construction of the model, but a few rules help to avoid most deterioration.
Whether silicone or TPE, avoid aggressive solvents, concentrated alcohol and chemicals not intended for these materials. They can alter the surface, discolor the doll or make the material sticky.
General skin cleansing
For dust or small soiling, start with a soft, slightly damp cloth. If necessary, use a mild cleaner compatible with TPE or silicone, then wipe with clean water.
For a more important cleaning, the doll can be washed with lukewarm water if its design allows. However, the parts that are not waterproof must be protected: neck joint, electronic elements, connectors, eyes or particular mechanisms depending on the model.
Do not direct a powerful jet of water into the joints or inside the skeleton. Water entering a metal area that is difficult to dry can promote corrosion and odors.
TPE is particularly heat sensitive. Never use boiling water to «disinfect» a doll. A comfortable temperature for the skin is more than enough for routine cleaning.
Clean intimate areas after use
Depending on the dolls, the mouth, vagina and anus can be integrated into the body or, in some models, a vaginal sheath can be removable.
A removable sheath is usually easier to clean: carefully remove it, rinse it with lukewarm water with a suitable cleaner, then let it dry completely before refitting it.
For an integrated channel, use a rinse pear, a mild irrigator or the provided cleaning accessory. Bring warm water to flow until no lubricant or fluids remain, then remove as much water as possible.
Do not use rigid or pointed objects to «scratch» the inside. The walls can tear and a small perforation is difficult to repair.
Drying: the step not to be overlooked
After washing, dab the skin with a soft towel. Avoid rubbing strongly, especially on the TPE, because repeated friction can mark or damage the surface.
Internal channels should also dry completely. You can use a suitable absorbent stick for dolls or rolled paper towel without forcing the canal. Replace it until it comes out almost dry, then let the area air again.
Never store the doll while the interior is still wet. Trapped humidity can promote odors and mold.
Maintain the surface of the TPE
TPE may become slightly oily or sticky over time. Once the doll is perfectly clean and dry, some manufacturers recommend a very thin layer of compatible maintenance powder to regain a silky touch.
Use only the recommended product for your doll. A powder that is too fragrant or containing irritating ingredients does not bring any advantage.
Silicone generally requires less powdering and its maintenance is not identical to that of TPE. The manufacturer's instructions remain the best reference.
Some storage precautions
Store the doll out of sun, radiators and heat sources. Avoid prolonged contact with dark clothes or fabrics that may rub off, especially on light TPE skin.
Good maintenance ultimately rests on three things: gentle cleaning, complete drying and material compatible with the material. These gestures are more effective than aggressive disinfection and help preserve the touch and appearance of the doll.
